Rev. Francis Omondi Otieno, BIshop ACK Garissa Diocese

Rev. Dr. Francis Omondi Otieno

Rev. Dr. Francis Omondi (PhD) is the current Bishop of ACK Garissa Diocese. He is a holder of PhD. and an MTh. in theology from South Africa Theological Seminary (SATS) and is a graduate of Education from Kenyatta University.  Rev. Omondi is a Lecturer at South Africa Theological Seminary, a Research Tutor at Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life and an Adjunct Lecturer at St. Paul’s University Limuru. He is interested in how our (African national) collective experience and thought can improve the practice of religion within the changing context. The current contextual and missiological changes inform this interest. This process has drawn from the nationals’ perspectives, bringing to light unknown gems. As a reflective practitioner, Rev. Francis seeks to examine emergent issues from the intersection of Christianity, Islam, and African Religion and how these encounters influence the Church and society today. It is in line with reflective practitioners’ approach which sees research through four complementary lenses: the lens of their autobiography as learners of reflective practice, the lens of other learners’ eyes, the lens of colleagues’ experiences, and the lens of theoretical and research literature. He further states how reviewing practice through these lenses makes us more aware of the power dynamics and, thus, theologies in our context.
